1. Why should I buy an extended warranty when my vehicle comes with a
warranty from the manufacturer?
If you plan on keeping your vehicle beyond the time and mileage covered
under the manufacturer’s warranty, a vehicle service contract is an
excellent way to make sure you do not incur significant out of pocket
expenses related to mechanical breakdown. By purchasing a plan while the
vehicle is still covered by the manufacturer you will receive the best
pricing available. Many customers purchase service contracts when they
experience issues with their vehicles and carriers incur significant
claims due to this issue. By purchasing while your vehicle is still
covered you are eliminating this concern and the pricing you receive
will reflect this.
2. When should I purchase a Vehicle Service Contract?
This is truly a case of “the sooner the better”. Vehicle service
contracts purchased now as opposed to later will be significantly more
cost effective. The reason for this is vehicles tend to have increasing
issues as they become older and have more miles. Pricing from the
carriers reflect this. Further, newer and lower mileage vehicles qualify
for longer and higher quality coverage. As you wait, the options for
your vehicle continue to diminish.
3. My vehicle is known to be very reliable; do I really need this type of
coverage?
This question is only one you can answer. A good rule of thumb is if a
major breakdown would be financially burdensome for you, the coverage is
probably a good buy. If you own an extremely reliable vehicle, the cost
of coverage will reflect this. On top of this, Club members are
receiving their plan at a wholesale price meaning the coverage will “pay
off” for a high percentage of customers.
4. What type of coverage is best for me?
The Club recommends that its members purchase exclusionary coverage (Best of the Best) when
available for their vehicle. Because all coverage levels cover the most
expensive items to repair (engine and transmission), more inclusive
coverage levels are generally not that much more expensive than the more
basic plans. We encourage our members to purchase the best plan their
budget allows. If the “Best of the Best” coverage is not in the budget,
stepping up from “Just the Big Stuff” to “Major Systems” or “Almost
Everything” in many cases will be less than $100.
5. How good is the coverage?
Wholesale Warranty Club works with only the best carriers and
administrators. Before a product is allowed into The Club network, the
provider’s contracts, AM Best rating, and BBB history are examined to
assure members get what they pay for. Members rely on The Club to
connect them with not only a plan that will pay as expected but also
provide them with a hassle free claims experience. In short, this is one
of the main reasons to join.
6. Is this warranty through the manufacturer?
No. Manufacturer’s warranties are sold by the franchised dealers of each
automaker. Sadly, while the manufacturers do offer excellent coverage,
their dealers mark these products up so much that they do not represent
a good value. Further, the plan you purchase from a dealer will only be
valid at certain dealerships, in most cases. The service contracts
available through The Club represent the best case scenario: Coverage
equal to the manufacturer’s plans without the huge markup and without a
limitation in your servicing choices.
7. Do I have to go back to my original dealer for repairs?
No. You can take the vehicle to any licensed, ASE certified, repair facility.
8. What if my dealer or repair facility does not accept the extended service contracts I have?
It is highly unlikely that any reputable repair facility would not accept the warranty, as there are literally thousands of repair facilities that accept the warranties offered through The Club. However, if the one you choose does not, simply have them contact the warranty administrator and discuss the nature of the repair required. Our warranty companies use national standards in determining the amount a repair should cost. As long as a repair facility is willing to accept a fair price for their work, the warranty company will work out payment directly with them.
9. How can I be assured that my extended service contract claims will be paid in the future and how do I know the warranty company will be around to take care of my future claims?
To ensure members receive top quality service contracts, The Club experts have completed comprehensive due diligence on all warranty providers and hand selected only those companies that are highly rated, by AM Best. This means that not only the financial strength of the warranty company has been examined, but also the manner in which they pay claims.
10. If I choose a plan that has a deductible, how does it work?
When you have a repair, if you have a deductible, you simply pay your deductible directly to the repair facility.
11. When does my extended service contract begin and expire?
If your vehicle is still under manufacturer’s warranty, your extended service plan will begin once your manufacturer’s warranty runs out. If you are already out of the manufacturer’s warranty, it will begin the day you purchase it and end on the date or miles as determined by the term of the coverage you select.
12. What is an “in-service date”?
In-Service Date is the date the vehicle was purchased new. This date is important if your vehicle is four years old or newer with less than 60,000 miles as it may qualify for new car coverage (typically less expensive). Some new car plans require you to provide this date. If you select one of those plans you will be prompted enter this date during the check out process. To get a quote you can estimate your in-service date or we will default to March of the year of your vehicle.
13. How do I obtain the in-service date for my vehicle?
If you are the original owner you can get this from your purchase paperwork, otherwise it can be obtained by calling the manufacturer’s customer service phone number. Once you enter your vehicle make, this phone number will be shown next to the in-service date box. Make sure to have your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) when calling the manufacturer.

Beyond that, your pro-rata refund will be based on the miles or months that you have had the warranty as compared to the term of your warranty. Additionally, the warranty provider may charge a small fee ($50 or so) if cancelled.
17. Will a service contract pay for a problem that the vehicle has when I purchase the service contract?
Just like automobile insurance where you cannot purchase insurance after an accident you cannot purchase a service contract to cover an existing problem. This is why it is important to get your coverage while the vehicle has no issues – there is no time like the present.
18. Do Club warranties come with addition benefits?

23. Why buy an extended service contract now, since I am still covered by the manufacturer?
Buying your extended warranty while you are still under the manufacturer’s warranty will save you money as compared to buying it once your manufacturer’s warranty has expired.
24. If my vehicle is out of the manufacturer's warranty, can I still get coverage?
Yes, the Club offers warranties for vehicles with up to 150,000 miles.
25. Can I buy this same type of coverage through my dealer?
Yes, the warranty companies that provide Club warranties also provide warranty programs for dealers and retailers throughout the U.S.
26. What if my vehicle breaks down and I am not near my home?
You can take the vehicle to any licensed, ASE certified, repair facility. However, if the one you choose that is not already working with the warranty company, simply have them contact the warranty administrator and discuss the nature of the repair required. The warranty company uses national standards in determining the amount a repair should cost. As long as the repair facility is willing to accept a fair price for their work the warranty company will work out payment directly with them. If necessary, the warranty companies will pay the repair facility with a credit card so they do not have to worry about waiting for a check.
27. What if I trade my vehicle?
All extended warranties available through The Club are cancelable or transferable for a small fee.

The amount you will receive back is based on several factors. On new vehicles, if you cancel in the first 60 days you will receive a full refund. If it is a used vehicle and you cancel within 30 days you will receive a full refund. Beyond that, your pro-rated refund will be based on the miles or months that you have had the warranty as compared to the term of your warranty. Any amount that has been paid in claims for covered repairs can be subtracted from the refund amount. Additionally, the warranty provider may charge a small fee ($50 or so) if cancelled.
29. What if I sell my car? Is my warranty Transferable?
The warranty is transferable, for a small fee, which will add value as you compete for a buyer.
30. Is my warranty renewable?
Yes. Just like insurance policies, at the end of the term you have three options, end coverage, renew your coverage or purchase a new policy. The Club’s website automatically analyzes each option and presents the results so that you can make an informed decision based on your specific situation. You can also contact a Club member representative to discuss this and obtain any additional information regarding The Club’s extended warranties.
31. Do I really need an extended warranty?
It depends on the cost and coverage of the policy you purchase. If you purchase an extended warranty through most sources you will over pay for the coverage.
